STI TESTING GUIDANCE
Most STIs have an incubation following exposure, meaning they may not be detected within a certain timeframe.
Most STI’s require you to wait at least 14 days after sexual activity before taking a test, however, please refer to the below timeframes instead if testing for the following STI’s to ensure the results are accurate:
SAMPLE COLLECTION
If there is no noticeable genital lesion or genital discharge, a urine sample should be provided. If there is a genital lesion or genital discharge, a swab sample should be provided.
Simultaneously detect 10 viral, bacterial, and protozoan STIs from either a urine or lesion-based swab.
PCR-based screen for two of the most common STIs; Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
Screen for multiple blood borne pathogens with the STI blood profile.
A complete screen of entire 14 pathogen STI portfolio, comprising 10 urine or swab pathogens and 4 blood-borne viruses.
A comprehensive panel simultaneously detecting 6 sexually transmitted pathogens by serology and urine/swab.
The routine screen covers testing for Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea and HIV, with the addition of Hepatitis B surface antigen serology.
The routine screen tests for Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea and HIV, with the addition of Syphilis serology.
